Adelaide Crescent, Hove.

This crescent was designed by Decimus Burton in 1830. But only eight houses at the south-east corner were then built. It was completed between 1850 and 1860 by Sir Isaac Lyon Goldsmid, who had bought the Wick Estate in 1830. Decimus Burton's original design was not used in the construction of the houses built at this later date. By an Act of Parliament of 1851, Adelaide Crescent was brought within the jurisdiction of the Brunswick Square Commissioners, whose district was considerably enlarged by the Act.
