LONDON ROAD

Oliver Weston’s clothiers shop at 27 North Road, at the corner of Gardner Street, during the 1880’s. This business, conducted by Messrs. Weston and Tugwell, has started in the 1850’s on the other side of the road. By the 1880’s, Tugwell had either left of died, hence the reference to Oliver Weston as Sole Proprietor”. Later, in the 1920’s, the building was used for a few years as Marks and Spencer’s small bazaar.
