37a, Duke Street, Brighton.

This little house, probably dating from about 1800, is unusual in that is is fronted, not with tiles or flints, which are the typical seaside materials for cottages, but with painted wood. Its rusticated quoins and doorway, and small bow windows, give it an elegant air, even though it was probably built as a fisherman's cottage.
