The Staircase, Steine House, Old Steine, Brighton.

This is made of cast iron in imitation of bamboo, like the staircase in the Royal Pavilion. The Earl of Barrymore once rode a horse up it for a bet. He achieved his object, but the animal could not be induced to come down again, and it proved necessary to send for four blacksmiths in order to remove it.
