Built in 1824-1828, as a Chapel of Ease to the old Parish Church. Architect, Sir Charles Barry. This is probably one of the best early Gothic Revival Churches in England. It is splendidly sited with its tower at the south end forming the terminal feature of the view across Valley Gardens which lie along the main approach to Brighton by road. St Peter's became the Parish Church in 1873. The chancel was added by Somers Clarke in 1896-1902.
