QUEEN’S PLACE

Pooke’s tobacconists shop at 125, London Road, in 1897. This building also dated from the 1830’s and seems to have been a shop from the start, unlike others in this road. For some years a stationers it was a tobacconists by 1890 and so it remained for more than 70 years. About 1963 Bellmans Supermarkets bought the building and although it still stands it now forms part of Bellmans premises.
