PRESTON CIRCUS

Laying the tram rails across the Circus and towards Beaconsfield Road. The tramway system had been opened a few months before and a tram can be seen at the far end of Viaduct Road. The old Hare & Hounds inn, which faced into London Road, dated from the early 19c when it was at the northern outskirts of the town. The old building was pulled down in 1904 and the present public house erected in 1905. The adjacent premises, a beerhouse known as “The Fox” was absorbed into the new building. It stood on the site of the present Saloon Bar in London Road.
