This is probably the finest, and certainly the oldest, individual house in the Borough of Hove. It is likely that the house once comprised a complete courtyard, of which the cottages to the north of the house were part of the north wing. The present west wing dates from the fifteenth century, the remainder of the house from the sixteenth century. It contains panelling of this date and a good staircase. In th eeighteenth century, powder closets were insertes. In the garden is a circular, medieval dovecot.
