This building designed by John Crunden in 1766, was originally the ballroom of the Castle Hotel adjoining the Royal Pavilion. In 1821 it was purchased by George IV and converted into the Royal Chapel. When the Pavilion was sold by the Crown to Brighton Corporation in 1850, the Chapel was claimed by the Ecclesiastical Authorities, demolished and re-erected on its present site. It has not been used since 1939.
